Airport 2025 – The Future Customer Experience survey
Starting Assumptions – the World in 2025
This survey is designed to explore your reactions to a range of ideas about how the customer experience at airports could evolve over the period to 2025. To help you think about the world in 2025, we are suggesting the following assumptions:
1. Economy - Persistent economic turbulence with one or more global recessions and regular regional ones in the time period; highly indebted developed nations will take at least 5-10 years to restructure their economies; continued shift of economic power and wealth from west to east.
2. Governance - Growing debate about the right future socio-economic governance models to ensure a sustainable world economy. Major changes to some aspects of the system e.g. bank regulation.
3. Society - Growth of the middle class – particularly in Asia; increasing life expectancy in almost all countries.
4. Business Models – A growing shift to renting assets rather than owning them (e.g. car clubs, cloud computing) and person to person services (e.g. community banking, barter, time banking).
5. Humanity - Deepening understanding of human biological and cognitive functions e.g. how to stimulate different emotions, how we learn.
6. Science - Rapid pace of advancement in genetic and material sciences in particular – giving rise to new industries.
7. Personalization - A range of personalized experiential technologies will emerge that learn and adapt to our individual behaviour. Common for individuals to have technology embedded in their bodies e.g. identification chips, possibly even mobile phones.
8. Embedded Intelligence - Far greater intelligence will be embedded in everyday objects from the clothes we wear to the seats we sit in.
9. Immersive Internet - A more intelligent, open access and immersive ‘multi-sensory’ successor to the current internet will emerge largely accessed through conversational interfaces on mobile devices.
10. Sustainability - Demand for energy, food, water and other key resources will rise faster than supply – driving up prices globally; concerns over climate change and biodiversity loss will remain.
11. Airport Experience- Advances in ICT, human-computer interfaces, security, biometrics and mobile devices will combine to speed up and simplify the passenger journey through most airports. Most airports will offer free WiFi as standard.
I am writing to ask if you would complete our latest survey on the customer experience in the airport of the future.
This part of a larger study we are conducting with Amadeus. We are interested in the opinions of anyone who has been an airline passenger in the past or thinks they might use an airport in the future.
You can find the survey link here and you do not have to answer all of the questions:

Please leave your name and email address to receive a free copy of the final report.
We will give $1 to the Save the Children Fund for each person that takes part in the survey.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
